Abstract

The high unemployment rate among high school graduates demands a transformation in the orientation of madrasahs from merely conventional theological transmission to the comprehensive mastery of applied sciences. This research aims to formulate a vocational curriculum management model in Islamic Senior High Schools (Madrasah Aliyah) to enhance graduate independence. Utilizing a qualitative case study design at MA As-Syifa Balikpapan, data were collected through in-depth interviews with stakeholders, laboratory observation, and managerial documentation analysis. The findings reveal that the effectiveness of vocational management is supported by three fundamental strategies: (1) adaptive curriculum synchronization through direct collaboration with industries and vocational schools; (2) product-based learning implementation with a dominant practical ratio of 70:30; and (3) an evaluation system oriented towards product quality and alumni employability. Furthermore, this entire managerial construction is driven by an Islamic work ethic that positions skill mastery as a manifestation of piety. In conclusion, this governance model has proven effective in boosting the competitiveness and independence of graduates, both as young entrepreneurs and university students. This study contributes by offering a theoretical framework for contemporary Islamic vocational management that successfully integrates pragmatic industrial demands with spiritual values.
